Today on The Morning Thing we talked about The National Day of Prayer, happening tonight on the Public Square in Downtown Mount Vernon. The event starts at 7pm, and The Knox Network of Christian Ministries has some special things planned.
Race Ministries Band will provide music for the event. Local pastors and ministry leaders will pray for our community, our local, state and national government, and our families. If you can’t join us, listen to the service LIVE on 90.9FM, WNZR and here on wnzr.fm.
Our theme this year is For Your Great Name’s Sake! Hear Us… Forgive Us…Heal Us! Taken from Daniel 9:19, which says, “O Lord, Listen! O Lord, Forgive! O Lord, Hear and Act! For Your Sake, O My God.” As the 2017 National Day of Prayer on May 4 approaches, thousands of individuals, churches, and communities will be working to rally millions of Christian’s to once again heed this call!
Scripture tells us again and again that our fervent prayer is effective. That our loving God responds to His children’s earnest pleas in mighty ways that avail much, and ultimately determine the course of history.

We also shared some Bible verses that talk about prayer, and the importance of it. You can see the entire list here!
In case of inclement weather, The National Day of Prayer service will be moved to Thorne Performance Hall on the Campus of MVNU. The service will still start at 7pm.
